Put Your Links and Bio Page on Your Own Domain

By ERAGO · Published · 4 min read

A styled ERAGO QR code next to the headline: your links and bio page, on your own domain

Every time you share a link, you're asking someone to trust it. A customer who sees go.yourcafe.com/menu knows where they're going. A customer who sees a string of random letters on an unfamiliar domain has to guess. That small moment of doubt is often the difference between a tap and a scroll past.

This guide covers why your own domain matters for short links and bio pages, what it does for search, and how to set it up in a few minutes.

Why your own domain builds trust

People have learned to be careful with links. Phishing messages, fake giveaways and spam have made "where does this go?" a reasonable question. When the link carries your brand name, you answer that question before it's asked.

A branded link also does quiet marketing work. Each time it's shared in a chat, printed on a flyer or read out on a stream, your name gets one more mention. Over months, that adds up.

There's a practical side too. If your links live on your domain, they stay yours. You can change the tool behind them later, and the address people saved or printed doesn't have to change.

What it means for Google

Search engines connect content to the domain it lives on. A bio page on your own domain is a page about your business, on your business's address. That helps in a few ways:

  • One home for your name. Your website, your bio page and your links all point back to the same domain, so the signals stay together.
  • Clear ownership. It's easier for search engines to tell that the page is the official one, not a copy or a fan page.
  • Indexable content. A bio page with your name, a short description and your main links is a simple, readable page that can show up when people search for you.

A custom domain won't push you to the top of search results on its own. But it puts your pages in the right place so the work you do elsewhere counts toward your own name.

Picture a small bakery (an example, not a real customer). Its Instagram bio links to links.bakeryname.com, a bio page with the menu, the order form and the opening hours. Its table cards carry a QR code that opens go.bakeryname.com/today, today's specials. Its delivery bags have a QR code for go.bakeryname.com/review.

Every one of those addresses carries the bakery's name. Every one can be updated from the same dashboard.

Printed QR codes that can change later

This is where it really pays off. When you make a dynamic QR code in ERAGO's QR Studio, the code points to your short link, not straight to the final page. That means you can:

  • swap the menu PDF when prices change,
  • send last month's event poster to the photo album after the event,
  • point a packaging QR to a new product page,

all without reprinting a single card. The printed code stays the same; only the destination changes.

You can style these codes in the QR Studio too: colors, corner colors, rounded or dotted modules and your logo in the middle. Keep the modules dark on a light background so they scan reliably, and print them at least 2–3 cm wide for tables and larger for posters.

How to set it up

  1. Create a free ERAGO account at erago.site.
  2. Go to the Domains page (/domains) and add your host. A subdomain like go.yourbrand.com or links.yourbrand.com works well, so your main website stays untouched.
  3. Point a CNAME record to erago.site at your domain provider, then add the TXT record ERAGO shows you for verification. This usually takes a few minutes to go through.
  4. Create your short links on that domain, with readable slugs like /menu or /book.
  5. Set up your bio page. Once your domain is verified and active, visiting it shows your bio page. On Free (one domain) that happens automatically; on Pro with several domains, you pick which domain is your bio page's home.
  6. Make QR codes in the QR Studio from those links, then download and print.

What's free and what's in Pro

The Free plan already includes 1 custom domain, along with short links, the QR Studio and a bio page. For most small shops and creators, one domain is all you need.

If you run more than one brand or want deeper numbers, Pro is $5/mo (+ tax where applicable). It adds unlimited custom domains and full analytics, so you can see which links, QR codes and placements actually bring people in. Pro also unlocks bio page themes, Open Graph cards for your links, and the option to remove the "Made with ERAGO" badge, which stays on Free.

A few tips

  • Pick a short subdomain. go., link. or l. are easy to read and type.
  • Use slugs people can say out loud. /menu beats /x7k2p.
  • Test before you print. Scan the code with two different phones, from the distance people will actually stand.
  • Keep one link per placement. A separate link for the table card and the window poster lets you compare them with Pro analytics.

Try it

Your name is already on your shop sign, your packaging and your posts. Your links can carry it too. It's free to try at erago.site.
